The Grove, Stockingate, South Kirby

10.00am-10.30am   Registration and Coffee

The following programme is still provisional in terms of timings and there may be changes in the order, the topics and speakers are confirmed.

Dermot Pearson, Senior Legal Officer, Kirklees Council will look at four issues:-

  • Declaring interests - when is it prejudicial? Is it personal?
  • Paragraph 12(2) of the Code of Conduct - what is it all about?
  • Bias and Predetermination - is it important?
  • Consultation on the new Code of Conduct - what will it mean for you?

If you have a burning issue relating to the code of conduct or allied issues, let the organisers know and every effort will be made to allow time for your question to be answered.

Yorkshire Local Council's Associations

Allotments - what's the legal position?  One of the officers of YLCA will provide all the information on the legal position about the creation, running and disposal of allotments.

Planning Aid

Planning Aid will look at topical planning issues - but it's up to you to set the agenda - let the organisers know what you would like to discuss and hear the latest information, material considerations and the latest planning legislation will be covered as part of the session.

Power of Well Being

A recognised Power of Well Being trainer will provide the latest information in a briefing on this new power.  Guidance is shortly to be published and the trainers still have to be trained, but the session will cover what a Clerk needs to do to become qualified and what training Councillors need to undertake for the Council to be allowed to use this Power.
